Santhanam Plays Prominent Role in
Vanakkam Chennai
Vanakkam Chennai |
Kiruthiga,
wife of distributor-producer-actor Udhayanidhi, makes her debut as director in
Kollywood with the upcoming film Vanakkam
Chennaiwhich has ‘Mirchi’ Siva and Priya Anand in lead roles. The film is said
to be a full-length laugh riot and has the inevitable Santhanam essaying a prominent role similar to
the one he played in Vishal’s Pattathu Yaanai which released recently.
Udhay produces the film under his home banner Red Giant Movies.
The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander. Kiruthiga, who is confident of the
film’s showing at the box-office, found time amid her busy schedule to talk to
the press recently about what to expect from the film.
“Chennai,
the city has plenty of opportunities to offer to those who look for it, has
never let down anyone who has land up here with the hope of making a living.
This reality forms the crux of the story which is about the clash and the
subsequent love affair which brews between Siva who comes to Chennai from Theni
andPriya Anand, who comes to settle in Chennai after her stint in London.
“Santhanam plays a very important role in the film. In fact,
it’s he who ‘starts’ the film and ‘completes’ the proceedings at the climax. He
has also done away with his trade-mark double-meaning dialogues in the film at
my behest,” says Kiruthiga and informs us that she would be directing hubby
Udhaya as hero in her second film as director.
Anirudh
has also sung five of the seven songs in the film and has also sung a duet with
actress-playback singer Andrea Jermaiah, with whom he was having a
brief affair.
